Me "oh, I'll try this out for 30 minutes and get a feel for it...(3 hours later)... I JUST. CAN'T. STOP!" If you like beautiful 2D art, a cute sense of humor, JRPG-turn-based-style combat, and deckbuilding all wrapped into one nice package then this is the game for you. Worth every penny!. Have been enjoying my time playing SWQ. I am about a third of the way into the game, even though I have a lot of hours logged already. This is a deck-building combat game that is very similar to Slay the Spire, although this game feels a lot easier. SWQ lacks a lot of the hallmarks of a typical RPG, which makes it a lot easier to play. I am pretty sure it was designed for the Nintendo Switch, because the controls and gameplay are fairly simplistic. This is a chill experience that passes the time quickly. It has some great guitar music, and the sound effects are decent. The best part of SWQ is the hard-drawn graphics and excellent animations. The gameplay is also very intuitive, and it is very enjoyable to play around with the card combinations. The deckbuillding experience is the primary reason to play this game. The narrative is a bit dry, and the pacing of the game is slow.I played this game on an ubuntu linux 18.04 and 19.04 desktop with radeon mesa graphic drivers and an xbox-type gamepad controller. This game can run on very old hardware, with few very minor issues. This game takes up about 800 MBs of diskspace, and it uses a developer-designed game engine. I recommend this game to fans of casual RPG experiences, who are looking for a high-quality indie game, with an innovative deckbuilding game mechanism.. Big fan of the SteamWorld games, but I hit a snag in this one. I found what appears to be a really frustrating design choice for anyone coming from similar games such as Slay the Spire, etc - specifically, you can find yourself in a situation where you are down to one character (other's are dead) and you simply cannot do anything. You don't have enough steam to use whatever cards are available to your character (if any), and attempts to re-draw other (dead) characters' cards in your hand over the course of 4-5 turns only results in drawing more of the dead characters' cards. When you are 1 of 3 characters (Galleo in my case) and the only one alive, 16 out of the 24 cards in the deck (those belonging to the dead characters) are unusable to you. That does not include cards that your character CAN use, but doesn't have enough steam points to use (in my case, Galleo's deck - 2x mend (2 steam each), 1x wrecking ball (3 steam), 1x gigaton punch (4 steam)). In other words, every card that requires no steam to use was still in my deck - 2x steam punch, 2x shields up. So that's 20 out of 24 cards in the deck that are unusable.I literally sat there in a boss fight with the boss at ~30% hp, myself at ~90% as the last char alive, re-drawing 2 dead characters' cards per turn, looking for anything to use. I went turn after turn without being able to do anything at all except for once drawing a single steam punch (gave me 1 steam, not enough to use any cards of mine requiring steam as the lowest required 2), until I died. I stopped playing then and there (alt+f4 out of frustration), and was about to initiate a refund request.Instead of immediately refunding, I'll see what happens with this before I play again and cross the 2 hour mark.My suggestion: Either remove dead character's cards from the deck so that it's not constantly full of unusable cards, or perhaps consider a one-time full-hand discard\/redraw, instead of only being able to redraw 2 individual cards per turn. Will change to recommend if this is addressed.. The SteamWorld series continues its remarkable inter-genre winning streak with yet another strong entry - not just a strong turn-based RPG in its own right, but one that brings a number of interesting new ideas to the table. I'm finding the writing somewhat inane, but the lighthearted, comical tone is normal for the series, and given the strength of the gameplay, the fact that I'm occasionally rolling my eyes at the dialogue isn't nearly enough to keep me from recommending this game. The fact that *I* write depressing stories about robots doesn't mean *everyone* needs to, and I'm sure some people will find this game's tone a relief, particularly given the state of the world around us.. While I hate both JRPGs and Deck-building card games, I've absolutely loved this Deckbuilding JRPG. It's a good game, but definitely geared more towards a younger pre-teen crowd. I picked it up on a whim since I'm such a huge fan of Slay the Spire and both games have similar mechanics. I'm 4 hours in on the hardest difficulty and find both the levels and the battles to be pretty easy as well as slightly repetitive. Despite that I'm still having a lot of fun. For some reason the developers didn't give players the option to change the resolution so the graphics are pretty bad and fuzzy on my 1440p monitor. I was initially going to recommend this game, but after writing this review I don't think I will.- Graphics are bad because developers don't let you change the resolution (that is pretty dumb and/or lazy)- Story is boring and geared towards people younger than 13.- 4 hours in and battles are repetitive and long. Animations take forever. - Gameplay is good and the mechanics are solid. I'm having fun and will try to finish the game.I don't think it's worth $20 though. Not with all the hang ups I have. Maybe $5.. Getting diminishing returns on XP because the devs strung together a bunch of AOE happy mobs and Out of Battle healing is expensive forcing you to respawn enemies (because that's what healing statues do for some reason) was a terrible idea. Why....like why? The enemies drop mats and money. Cards, accs, and weapons require mats and money. Therefore, I have to grind anyway, but now with drastically less xp to make the grinding easier and faster. 33% of the game is reading, 33% is walking and 33% is fighting, but now I have to decide whether I'm going to avoid encounters or waste time just for a mat or two because the devs don't want me flexing. If you wanted to artificially discourage power leveling, here's what you do:1. Don't. Let me spend my time how I want.or2. Scale the level of the enemies with meWould give a neutral rating if I could..
